A science fiction American television series by Laeta Kalogridis, based on the novel of the same name by Richard Morgan, published in 2002 and its sequels. The series premiered on February 2, 2018 on Netflix.On July 27, 2018, the series was renewed for a second season; Anthony Mackie replaced Kinnaman in the title role of Takeshi Kovacs. Filming of the second season started on February 4, 2019 under the working title "Sleeves", the premiere took place on February 27, 2020. After the second season was shown, Netflix refused to shoot the third season.
the storyline:
XXVII century. People's consciousness is stored in special media — "stacks", which, if necessary, are loaded into bodies that are considered only as vessels. Gradually, a special class of rich centenarians, "mafs" (in honor of the biblical Methuselah), who found a way to additionally copy their consciousness to a backup medium, a "carbon copy", was formed.
The series was commissioned by Netflix in January 2016, 15 years after executive producer Laeta Kalogridis negotiated the adaptation of the novel as a feature film. According to Kalogridis, the complexity of the novel and the hard R rating for a long time prevented the concept of the series from being sold to studios. Miguel Sapochnik directed the pilot episode.
The series premiered on February 2, 2018 on Netflix. The official trailer was released on January 11, 2018.
