Gorgo, queen of Sparta, tells the people about the Marathon battle, in which the Athenian commander Themistocles suddenly defeated the forces of the Persian king Darius, who landed on the coast of Greece. The king finds himself in a cave, where he plunges into a pond with a strange liquid, after which his faith in his divine essence begins to grow and his appearance changes greatly. Returning, the king begins a war with Greece. His forces are moving towards Thermopylae.
